The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has begun the extradition process to bring back Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, from the United States.
Anmol Bishnoi is a key suspect in the high-profile firing case outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai, and is wanted under multiple charges in India. A special court for Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) cases has issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest, confirmed police sources.
Anmol Bishnoi’s case has now gained global attention, as the Mumbai Crime Branch expedited the extradition process following a tip-off from US authorities regarding his presence in America. The police are waiting on necessary court documentation, which, once obtained, will enable them to formally approach the central government for further action.
To aid the search, Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice for Anmol, expanding the scope of the investigation beyond Indian borders. Earlier, he was suspected to be hiding in Canada, but recent intelligence placed him in the United States, prompting the start of the extradition process.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), India’s primary counter-terrorism agency, had already listed Anmol Bishnoi on its most-wanted list last month. Additionally, the NIA announced a Rs 10 lakh reward for any information leading to his arrest, highlighting the gravity of his alleged crimes and connections.
Background on Bishnoi Gang’s Criminal Activities
The Bishnoi gang first rose to prominence following the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022. Since then, the gang, led by Lawrence Bishnoi, has been linked to several criminal activities, including the recent firing incident outside Salman Khan’s residence.
In April, shots were fired near Khan’s home in Bandra, reportedly as a continuation of the Bishnoi gang’s threats related to Khan’s alleged involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. Following the incident, security around the actor was heightened as new threats allegedly surfaced, attributed to Lawrence Bishnoi.
According to the police chargesheet, Anmol Bishnoi reportedly encouraged the shooters with a message, saying they were “going to script history.” His role in instigating the attack has made him a primary target of the investigation.
Additional Investigations and Charges
The Bishnoi gang is also under scrutiny for the murder of politician Baba Siddique, known to be a close associate of Salman Khan. The recent uptick in violent incidents has underscored the gang’s influence and prompted law enforcement agencies to intensify their efforts against its members. The Bishnoi brothers, alongside Canada-based associate Goldie Brar, have been accused of various crimes, including conspiracy to fund and recruit youth for alleged terror activities across India.
The Indian government’s intensified focus on extraditing gang members like Anmol Bishnoi reflects a broader crackdown on organized crime syndicates and their international support networks. With Interpol notices in place and international collaboration underway, authorities are optimistic that extraditing Anmol Bishnoi will serve as a significant step in curbing the Bishnoi gang’s operations.
