New Delhi: A day after his arrest, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan on Saturday sent to four day police custody. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Delhi Police had arrested the Okhla MLA in connection with irregularities in Delhi Waqf Board recruitment.
Hours after quizzing him and conducting a raid at his home and five other locations, the ACB had on Friday arrested Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan after “incriminating material and evidences against him” were unearthed during the searches.
It was reported that the weapons and cash worth Rs 24 lakh were recovered from Khan’s aides during the raids by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of Delhi Police.
The police had said during the raid against Khan and his business partner Hamid Ali Khan Masood Usman, a beretta and some cartridges were seized. The weapon was seized during a raid at Kausar Imam Siddiqui’s home.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday linked the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan to the Gujarat polls. Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal said, “First they arrested Satyendra Jain. They are not able to present any evidence even after repeatedly being asked by the court. Then they raided Manish’s house, nothing was found. Now Amanatullah has been arrested, will arrest many more MLAs. Looks like they are suffering a lot in Gujarat.”
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, in a tweet, said, “First they arrested Satyendra Jain, but there is no evidence against him in the court. They put raid on my house. Didn’t get anything. Then started a fake investigation against Kailash Gehlot, and now Amanatullah Khan is arrested. Operation Lotus is on to break every AAP leader.”
