Ranchi Institute of Neuro Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS) is set to witness major changes as the Jharkhand government moves to strengthen both its infrastructure and academic framework. Addressing the inaugural session of the centenary celebrations of RINPAS, Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced that all shortcomings in the institute will be reviewed and resolved, ensuring patients receive advanced mental healthcare facilities and modern treatment options.
The Chief Minister extended congratulations to everyone associated with RINPAS for completing 100 years of service, dedication, and trust.
Growing Role of Institutions Like RINPAS
Highlighting the increasing importance of institutions like RINPAS, CM Soren said that with the rising cases of depression and mental stress, it is crucial to provide better counseling and treatment facilities. He noted, “Although no one wishes to come to such institutions, circumstances often compel patients to seek help. It is our duty to ensure they leave fully recovered through the best possible treatment.”
The Chief Minister stressed the need to adopt modern technologies in mental healthcare. He assured that all necessary digital medical technologies will be made available at RINPAS to effectively treat mental health issues.
Families Abandoning Patients a Matter of Concern
Expressing concern, Soren pointed out that many families abandon patients at RINPAS and never return to take them back. In some cases, patients are even kept confined in homes in inhumane conditions. “We cannot imagine the mental state of such patients. We must ensure accessible and compassionate systems for them,” he said.
Reflecting on RINPAS’s history, CM Soren said, “When this institution was established in 1925, we cannot say what the exact circumstances were. But today, its growing relevance proves how visionary its founders were.” He added that the institute has been dedicated to service for the past century and will continue to be further strengthened.
