Hours after the arrest of Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha, and brother Anurag, in connection with the alleged abetment of her estranged husband Atul Subhash’s suicide, the techie’s father, Pawan Kumar Modi, expressed deep concern over the whereabouts of his four-year-old grandson. Modi questioned whether the child was alive or dead, as the family had no information on his current location. Speaking to media, Modi urged the authorities to ensure the safety of his grandson and emphasized the family’s distress.
“We don’t know where she has kept our grandson. Has he been killed or is he alive? We don’t know anything about him. I want my grandson to be with us,” Modi said, thanking the police for their swift action in arresting the accused in the case. The family has also decided not to immerse Atul’s ashes until they receive justice for his death. “We have brought his ashes. We are religious, but we will not immerse his ashes till we get justice,” Modi added.
The distraught father further criticized the judicial system, accusing a judge in Jaunpur family court of corruption. He claimed that the judge had demanded a bribe from Atul, who was unwilling to comply but had agreed to pay a penalty. Modi also shared his emotional pain, revealing that he had never held his grandson, as the child had been born in 2020, a year after Atul and Nikita separated. “I have only seen him on video calls, never held him close. For a grandfather, his grandson is more special than his son,” Modi said, his voice breaking with emotion.

Bikas Kumar, Atul Subhash’s brother, echoed his father’s concerns, expressing his desire to know the whereabouts of his nephew. He thanked the Karnataka Police for the arrests made thus far and hoped that further action would follow soon.
Atul Subhash, 34, was found dead in his Bengaluru home last week, having left behind a 24-page suicide note. In the note, Atul accused his estranged wife, her family members, and his in-laws of harassment and extortion, detailing how his wife had filed false cruelty charges against him and demanded a sum of Rs 3 crore to settle the case. He also mentioned the court’s ruling that he should pay his wife Rs 80,000 in monthly maintenance, though she sought Rs 2 lakh. Atul’s note further criticized the legal system for favoring women and enabling his alleged tormentors.
Nikita, her mother, and brother were arrested and remanded in police custody for 14 days. Meanwhile, her uncle Sushil Singhania, another accused in the case, remains at large.
