Amidst Congress allegations regarding potential constitutional amendments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that reservations for Dalits, Adivasis, and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) would not be extended to Muslims based on religion during his tenure.
He accused the Congress of engaging in divisive policies and creating an environment of appeasement during its previous rule, particularly in undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has engaged in a series of targeted remarks against the Congress party, particularly in response to allegations of potential constitutional changes and the issue of reservations.
During an election rally in Zaheerabad Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana, PM Modi addressed various contentious topics, highlighting his perspective on the Congress’s historical actions and current positions. He said, “Till Modi is alive, I will not let reservations of Dalits, Adivasis, OBC to be given to Muslims based on religion.”

PM Modi specifically criticized the Congress for allegedly introducing reservations for backward classes to Muslims in undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2004 and 2009. He claimed that while various communities in Telangana have long sought OBC status, the Congress expediently categorized Muslims as OBCs overnight.
Furthermore, PM Modi accused the Congress of disrespecting the Constitution from its inception, citing historical instances where he claimed the party undermined constitutional values.
He referenced former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s imposition of Emergency and alleged the dynasty’s disregard for party structures and principles.
PM Modi also took aim at Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, implying financial impropriety by referring to the “double R (RR) tax” and its purported diversion to Delhi. Additionally, PM Modi criticized the Congress over recent controversies, including the circulation of doctored videos and claims of potential inheritance tax hikes.
Earlier, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said at an election rally in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district that his party was poised to secure a majority in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. He attributed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on topics like “mangalsutra and Muslims” in his speeches to this perceived electoral threat.
