Mumbai: Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their second victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 by defeating the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with a seven-wicket victory at the Wankhede Stadium. Spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah’s impressive bowling, MI limited RCB to 196 runs on a favorable batting pitch before comfortably chasing down the target.
Opting to bowl after winning the toss, MI’s decision paid off as they quickly put RCB under pressure, with Bumrah dismissing Virat Kohli and Will Jacks early in the innings. However, a resilient partnership between Rajat Patidar and Faf du Plessis helped RCB recover from the early setbacks. Patidar’s aggressive batting and du Plessis’ steady contribution propelled RCB’s innings forward, but they faltered after the duo’s dismissal.

In response, MI’s opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan set the tone with a blistering start, with Kishan’s attacking play being particularly noteworthy. Although Kishan fell after a rapid fifty, Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive innings ensured MI’s dominance throughout the chase.
Yadav’s aggressive stroke play, combined with valuable contributions from Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, propelled MI to a comfortable victory with plenty of overs to spare. Pandya’s six to seal the win highlighted MI’s dominant performance, securing another two points in the tournament. Overall, it was a memorable performance for MI, showcasing their strength and depth in the competition.
