Delhi Government is giving step motherly treatment to Rohini: MLA Vijender Gupta
New Delhi: Former president of Delhi BJP and MLA from Rohini Vijender Gupta raised the matter of gross injustice being done to the residents of Rohini in the Delhi Vidhan sabha session today. He said that Sector-18, 19 and surrounding areas under Rohini Assembly Constituency have a population of more than 1 lakh, there was not even a single Govt school. After the hard work of the MLA, a government school building was constructed here. This is the only government school in the area.
He said that the children of the residents of Sector-18, 19 and surrounding areas of Rohini are not admitted to this school. The present government in Delhi gave this school the status of school of Excellence. The unfortunate thing associated with this school is that children of the local residents are not getting the admission here. He said that this is against the rules & regulation of School Education Act. It is also a violation of the Constitution’s right to education.
According to the rules, children should get school education near their home. It is important to mentioned here that the local residents of this area are belonging to mainly low-income groups. They cannot afford the schooling of their wards in private schools. They are being forced by Delhi government to spend maximum part of their earning in paying fees to the private schools as they have no alternative of government school. He said that the poor children are being denied their right to education by not admitted them to a school meant for them by Delhi government.
He further said that the Delhi government should shift the School of Excellence and restore the original status of the school so that children of local residents can also take admission in this school. He also alleged here that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Govt are deliberately giving step-motherly treatment to the Rohini assembly.
