Uttarkashi Helicopter Crash Updates | Tragedy struck Uttarakhand on Thursday morning as six people, including the pilot, died in a helicopter crash near Uttarkashi. The aircraft, carrying seven individuals, was en route from Dehradun to Harsil helipad when it crashed under unclear circumstances, prompting a swift response from disaster relief teams.
Victims Identified: Five Tourists and the Pilot Dead
Authorities confirmed that five female tourists and the pilot lost their lives in the accident:
Kala Soni (61) – Mumbai
Vijaya Reddy (57) – Mumbai
Ruchi Aggarwal (56) – Mumbai
Radha Aggarwal (79) – Uttar Pradesh
Vedavati Kumari (48) – Andhra Pradesh
Robin Singh (60) – Pilot from Gujarat
One passenger, Bhaskar (51) from Andhra Pradesh, survived with injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
Helicopter Was Bound for Harsil, Then Gangnani
The private chopper was ferrying tourists from Dehradun to Harsil helipad as part of a pilgrimage circuit. From there, they were to continue their journey to Gangnani, located approximately 30 km by road.

The State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) and local district administration quickly reached the crash site and launched rescue operations. The District Magistrate of Uttarkashi also rushed to the scene to oversee relief efforts.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences and assured full support to the victims’ families. In a post on social media, he wrote: “May God grant peace to the souls of those who died in the accident and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense loss.”
Dhami confirmed that an investigation has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash. He stated that the administration is “providing all possible help” to the injured and is “closely monitoring the situation.”

This tragic incident once again raises concerns about aviation safety in the Himalayan region, especially during tourist and pilgrimage seasons. The rugged terrain and unpredictable weather make aerial travel in Uttarakhand both a necessity and a risk.
While the exact cause of the crash remains unknown, aviation and safety experts have been dispatched to the site as part of the investigation.
