2024 Union Budget: A provision of Rs 1.48 lakh crore has been allocated for education, employment, and skilling initiatives.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday emphasized the long-term significance of the 2024 Union Budget, stating it would lay the groundwork for future budgets. Presenting her seventh budget statement in Parliament on Tuesday, Sitharaman highlighted nine priority areas for the Modi 3.0 government and its successors.

The nine key areas are:

  1. Productivity and resilience in agriculture
  2. Employment and skilling
  3. Improved human resources
  4. Social justice
  5. Manufacturing and services
  6. Urban development
  7. Energy security
  8. Infrastructure
  9. Innovation, research, and development, and next-gen reforms

“The Budget envisages sustained efforts on nine priority areas for generating ample opportunities for all. Future budgets will build on these priorities of the 2024 Budget,” Sitharaman stated.

Within these priorities, the 2024 Budget will focus on four primary areas: employment, skilling, MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), and the middle class. The government plans to implement schemes benefiting 4.1 crore youth over five years with an outlay of Rs 2 lakh crore.

A provision of Rs 1.48 lakh crore has been allocated for education, employment, and skilling initiatives. “In this budget, we particularly focus on employment, skilling, MSMEs, and the middle class. I am happy to announce a package of five schemes and initiatives to facilitate employment, skilling, and other opportunities for 4.1 crore youth over a five-year period with an outlay of Rs 2 lakh crore,” Sitharaman announced.
