Traffic in parts of Delhi and Noida has been severely impacted ahead of the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest march set for Monday. The demonstration, organized by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) alongside other farmer groups from over 20 districts, is aimed at pressing the central government to address key agricultural concerns.
Visuals from various areas in Delhi-NCR show long vehicle queues, with traffic crawling due to heavy security deployment and police barricades. A video posted by ANI shows cars inching forward at the Chilla border, while on the DND, vehicles are completely stalled across at least 10 lanes.
In preparation for the protest, Noida Police issued a traffic advisory on Sunday, warning commuters of traffic diversions and restrictions in place. Alternate routes for those traveling include taking the Sector 14-A flyover, Golchakkar Chowk, and Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk for travel from Chilla Border to Greater Noida. For travel from DND Border to Delhi, commuters are advised to use the Film City flyover, Sector-18, and Elevated Road. Other routes for areas like Kalindi Border to Delhi and Greater Noida to Delhi are also listed in the advisory.

In addition, commuters traveling via the Yamuna Expressway are urged to exit at the Jewar toll and proceed via Khurja and Jahangirpur, while those on the Peripheral Expressway should use Dadri or Dasna exits instead of Sirsa. Traffic police across the capital have stepped up security, conducting vehicle checks at various checkpoints.
The farmers, protesting under the banners of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have raised several demands concerning the new agricultural laws. These include guaranteed compensation and benefits under the newly enacted laws, as well as an allocation of plots and increased compensation under previous land acquisition laws. They also demand employment and rehabilitation benefits for the children of landless farmers, government action on decisions made by the High Power Committee, and better settlement of populated areas.
BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa stated, “We are ready for our march towards Delhi. We will begin from under the Maha Maya flyover in Noida, and by noon, we will reach the Parliament complex to demand our compensation and benefits according to the new laws.” The protest highlights ongoing frustrations over agricultural policies that have been the center of farmer protests since early 2021.
