The legendary patriotic anthem Sandese Aate Hai from the 1997 war classic Border is making a powerful comeback in Border 2 with a fresh twist. Renowned singers Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh are collaborating for Sandese Aate Hai 2.0, a heartfelt tribute that promises to reignite national pride.
In a historic move, music giant T-Series, led by Bhushan Kumar, has acquired the rights to the original song for a staggering ₹10 crore, making it the most expensive Bollywood song remake to date. “The song is the soul of Border, and the producer has left no stone unturned to get the rights for a record sum. It’s among the highest price that a producer has spent to recreate a melody, but Bhushan knows the importance of Sandese Aate Hai in Border, and is confident that the patriotic song will reap rich dividends in long run,” a source close to the development revealed.
Border 2, announced in 2024 by Sunny Deol, continues the legacy of J.P. Dutta’s iconic war drama. The original Sandese Aate Hai, sung by Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod, captured the emotional turmoil and longing of soldiers during wartime, becoming an instant classic and a patriotic anthem for generations.

Now, Sonu Nigam returns to the song that defined his career, this time joined by Arijit Singh for an emotionally recharged rendition.
“The work on Sandese Aate Hai 2.0 has been going on for the longest time and the makers have cracked a version that justifies the legacy of the first part. While the original song was sung by Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod, Sandese Aate Hai 2.0 will be sung by Sonu Nigam with Arijit Singh. This is clearly being positioned as the biggest song of Indian Cinema. The song will be picturised on Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh among others,” the source added.
The announcement of the release of Border 2 by T-Series, made almost seven-eight months ago, continues to evoke the same thrill and goosebumps as before.

The music is expected to play a pivotal role in the film, which is currently in production and slated to wrap up by August 2025. Sandese Aate Hai 2.0 is designed as an emotional tribute to the Indian Army, adding both nostalgic value and modern resonance.
Produced by JP Dutta, Bhushan Kumar, and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 is being positioned as one of the most emotionally charged and musically ambitious war dramas in Indian cinema. With a powerful combination of legacy, emotion, and star power, the return of Sandese Aate Hai is set to strike a chord with audiences once again.
