Communal tensions surfaced in three states — Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh — during overlapping religious events this week.
While stone-pelting and clashes were reported in Jabalpur, Bagalkot and Hyderabad, officials confirmed that there were no casualties and the situations were brought under control through swift police intervention.

In Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, tension flared in the sensitive Sihora tehsil after a Durga temple complex was allegedly vandalised on Thursday night.
Locals said the incident occurred when evening aarti at the temple coincided with prayers at a nearby mosque. A youth allegedly damaged the temple grill, triggering an altercation between two groups.
The confrontation escalated into scuffles and stone-pelting.
Police from nearby stations rushed to the spot, and mild lathi-charge was used to disperse protesters. Security was tightened in the Azad Chowk area, considered communally sensitive.

District Collector Raghavendra Singh and senior police officer Sampat Upadhyay stated that no religious structure was damaged and no injuries were reported. Around 20 people were detained.
Officials said the situation is now under control.
Bagalkot: Stones Thrown at Shivaji Jayanti Procession
In Karnataka’s Bagalkot, a Shivaji Jayanti procession reportedly came under stone attack as it passed near the Panka Masjid.
Hindu groups alleged that stones were thrown from the mosque area. One stone struck Superintendent of Police Siddharth Goyal, causing minor head injuries.
“As the procession approached the mosque, two stones were thrown from a distance toward us,” Goyal told the media.
Another account suggested tensions rose after objections were raised over a DJ song played during the procession.
Police intervened quickly and dispersed the gathering. Authorities imposed Section 144 in Bagalkot town for four days, and eight individuals were arrested in connection with the stone-pelting.

“We know who exactly pelted the two stones. The situation is now under control,” the SP said.
Hyderabad: Brief Flare-Up During Ramzan Prayers
In Hyderabad’s Amberpet area, a minor communal flare-up was reported when a Shivaji Jayanti procession passed near a mosque during Ramzan prayers.
Members of the Muslim community reportedly objected to loud music and sloganeering, leading to a brief scuffle.
Police arrived promptly and dispersed the crowd. No injuries or property damage were reported.
Given Amberpet’s sensitive demographic composition, additional personnel were deployed the following day to prevent escalation.
Police Contain Situation; No Casualties Reported
Despite tensions in three states, authorities confirmed that no deaths occurred in any of the incidents.
Section 144 has been enforced where necessary, and additional security remains in place to prevent further unrest.
Such incidents are not isolated. In the past, overlapping religious observances — particularly in areas where temples and mosques are located in close proximity — have led to flashpoints.
For now, officials maintain that law and order have been restored.
