Hisar: In another revelation in BJP leader Sonali Phogat’s death case, it has come to light that her aide Sudhir Sangwan was running an illegal extortion network in her name. As per the report, Sangwan has cheated several persons on her name in the past and has taken cheaper loans from banks also. When people asked to return their money, Sangwan threatened them in the name of police.
On Sunday, Goa police visited Sonali Phogat’s residence in Hisar where the police team seized three diaries. During a video call, Sangwan gave the wrong password for Sonali Phogat’s locker to the police. He told one password of three digits and another of six digits. When the locker was not opened, sealed it in the presence of the family members.
Days after Sonali Phogat’s death, Goa police had registered a murder case after her family members raised doubts on the two associates who accompanied the BJP to Goa.
Talking to the media, Phogat’s brother Watan Dhaka had said, “I got a call from her (Sonali Phogat) assistant at 8 am yesterday (Tuesday). Later, the assistant said she fell ill around 2 am in the night. Why did he not call us then? Every time he spoke, he gave different statements. This is why we feel there’s something wrong.”
He had also said that the last time she spoke to Phogat, the politician was feeling uneasy. “As if something had been added to her food. She had told our mother that she would go to the hospital,” Dhaka was quoted by the media.
The family members had also demanded a CBI probe and had earlier said that the police are not filing an FIR in the case. Dhaka also demanded action against the two associates who accompanied Phogat.
Sonali Phogat’s body had “multiple blunt force injuries”, the post-mortem report had revealed, hours after a murder FIR was filed against two of Phogat’s associates. The report had said, “There are multiple blunt force injuries over the body. In view of the above, the manner of death is for the investigating officer to ascertain.”
