Singer KK’s death: Kolkata cops lodge case of unnatural death

Kolkata: The Kolkata Police on Wednesday morning lodged an unnatural death case at New Market police station into the sudden death of singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK.

The police also said after getting his family’s consent, an inquest and post-mortem will be done. Arrangements are being made for the postmortem at SSKM hospital in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter and said, “The sudden and untimely demise of the Bollywood playback singer KK shocks and saddens us. My colleagues have been working from last night to ensure that all requisite support is given for necessary formalities, his rites and to his family now. My deep condolences.”

According to sources, KK was performing at Nazrul Manch in Kolkata at a programme organised by Gurudas college when he fell ill. Around 8:30 pm he left for his hotel and when his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to the CMRI hospital where he breathed his last.

Condoling his death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and wrote, “Saddened by the untimely demise of noted singer Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK. His songs reflected a wide range of emotions as struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti.”
