Shrikant Tyagi, who claims to be a BJP leader, was caught last week in a video showing his muscle might with a woman who is his neighbour in Noida. Since the video drew sharp criticism from across the country demanding his immediate arrest, Noida Police booked him under various Sections of the IPC. Tyagi, who is infamous for wrongdoings, was on the run and was being chased by several teams of the police. The Noida Police later announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for providing information about Tyagi.

Amid criticism for failing to act tough against the self-proclaimed politician, the Noida administration used bulldozers to raze illegal constructions done by Tyagi in his flat in Grand Omaxe in Noida’s Sector 93. On Noida Authority’s order, JCB machines demolished illegal constructions at his residence at the housing society. The woman had objected his illegal encroachment on the society’s common area which irked Tyagi and he, in the viral video, was seen abusing the woman.

While Tyagi claimed he is a member of the BJP Kisan Morcha and his social media handles had several pictures of him with top BJP leaders, including party chief J P Nadda. The BJP, meanwhile, has denied any association with him.
