India Under-17 team is in Europe regarding preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup the country is hosting from October 11-30.

New Delhi: Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) overseeing the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Sunday informed sacking of India Women U17 team assistant coach Alex Ambrose after allegation of sexual misconduct. In a statement issued on June 30, AIFF had hinted about the incident but had neither revealed the accused not had shared offence.
S Y Quarashi, one of the members of SC-appointed committee informed about the move on social media. Quarashi, in a tweet, said, “Alex Ambrose, Asstt Head Coach of Under 17 Women’s team has been sacked for sexual misconduct. Further action under process.”
“An event of misconduct has been reported in the U17 women’s team currently on an exposure tour to Europe. The AIFF follows a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline. As an initial action, the Federation has provisionally suspended the individual pending further investigation,” said AIFF in a statement.
“The AIFF has asked the concerned individual to stop all contact with the team, return to India immediately, and be physically present for further investigations upon his arrival.” The AIFF further stated.
Following the development, the Indian Under-17 women’s football team was reportedly suspended and called back from Norway during the ongoing training tour to Europe.

Though initially name of the assistant coach was not surfaced but sources had said claimed that had forced the minor player to indulge in ‘inappropriate’ act. Head coach Thomas Dennerby himself was a witness to the “incident” and it was he, who immediately informed the AIFF, the sources claimed.
Since the head coach forwarded a report from Europe in this regard, the CoA acted immediately and informed the same to Sports Authority of India (SAI). He was immediately called back to India and probe was started against him.
