Muzaffarpur: Superintendent of Police (Railways) Dr. Kumar Ashish directed the officers to spruce up crime control management by developing information network and taking stringent measures to contain untoward incidents.
During a monthly crime review meeting with senior officers, Dr. Ashish emphasized the importance of filing incident reports within 24 hours of occurrence. He also asked them to promptly address pending reports and to oversee the conduct and activities of all police officers.
The SP also reviewed the actions taken by the Rail Police Muzaffarpur in March 2024. He was apprised that at least 203 incidents were reported including 16 special cases and 187 regular cases in March 2024 under the jurisdiction of Muzaffarpur Railway Division. Among these, 17 special cases and 186 regular cases were successfully addressed.
“A total of 148 offenders were arrested in connection with incidents under Muzaffarpur Railway Division, including 137 under various sections and 11 under the Railway Act, all of whom were sent to judicial custody. Moreover, warrants issued for 14 individuals and 9 seizures were made under various laws,” according to the minutes of review meetings.
“Under the Motor Vehicles Act, a total of 76 vehicles were impounded, resulting in the collection of fines amounting to ₹41,500. Additionally, fines totaling ₹2450 were collected from 13 individuals under the Excise Act,” it said.

Twelve police officials who played a significant role in the investigation and other activities related to the incidents were honoured with commendation letters by the SP.
A total of 139 cases were reported under the Narcotics Act in March 2024, resulting in the seizure of 3124.305 liters of foreign liquor and 439.685 liters of country liquor. Out of these cases, 101 individuals were arrested and placed in judicial custody, it added.

Furthermore, after judicial proceedings, 4 individuals involved in theft, 1 in NDPS cases, 1 in fraud cases and 2 in various other cases were sentenced to imprisonment and fines, it said, adding that 10 individuals were arrested for alcohol consumption, out of which 8 were fined by the honorable court.
“Various items including cash amounting to ₹7010, 2 motorcycles, 41 mobile phones, 1 SIM card, 5 railway tickets, and several weapons were confiscated during the month. Moreover, 3 missing children were rescued,” it said.

*Prompt submission of final reports on previously disposed pocket disposal cases by all railway station officers.
*Monitoring the conduct and activities of all police officers/staff at their respective stations.
*Coordination with local administration/RPF/Excise and Railway Administration for special vigilance and monitoring during Eid and Ram Navami.
*Rotation of police personnel stationed in each station based on necessity.
*Daily briefings of assigned police personnel by all railway station chiefs/inspectors/assistant police chiefs in charge of patrol duty.
*Immediate notification to superiors upon receiving any kind of information.
*Special campaigns were launched by all railway station chiefs/RPF in-charge officers to increase seizures for alcohol recovery.
*Development of information systems for crime control by all railway station chiefs.
