The Delhi government has raised concerns over what it alleges to be attempts by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Centre to impose President’s rule in the national capital.

At a press conference, Delhi Minister Atishi claimed that credible sources have revealed a political conspiracy aimed at destabilising the Arvind Kejriwal-led government.
Highlighting the stagnation in senior IAS officers’ postings despite existing vacancies in various departments, Atishi said, “Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested in a fake case without any evidence, indicating a conspiracy to topple the elected government of Delhi. Historical events suggest a well-planned conspiracy is unfolding.”

Atishi further pointed out the absence of officer appointments and transfers within Delhi, along with officers’ non-attendance at meetings since the announcement of elections. Atishi also cited the dismissal of the private secretary of Arvind Kejriwal as a part of the alleged conspiracy.
In response, the BJP refuted the accusations, labelling them as baseless fabrications. BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana dismissed the claims, stating, “The party concocts entertaining stories daily. Allegations of officials not being appointed are baseless. Since September, the Chief Minister has not met the Lieutenant Governor.”
Tensions escalated following the Delhi High Court’s dismissal of a plea by Arvind Kejriwal challenging his March 21 arrest. Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate raided the AAP leader’s residence and took him into custody, following the court’s refusal to shield him from arrest.
The arrest of Arvind Kejriwal pertains to a corruption case linked to the now-nullified Delhi liquor policy. The ED alleges that the policy provided disproportionately high profit margins for wholesalers and retailers. Central agencies investigating the case, dubbed the “South Group,” have focused on uncovering an alleged network involving middlemen, businessmen, and politicians.
