On the eve of Independence Day 2025, President Smt Droupadi Murmu approved a total of 127 Gallantry awards and 40 Distinguished Service awards for personnel of the Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces.
The list includes four Kirti Chakras, 15 Vir Chakras, 16 Shaurya Chakras, two Bar to Sena Medals (Gallantry), 58 Sena Medals (Gallantry), six Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry), and 26 Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).
In recognition of exceptional service in operations, the President also approved seven Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medals, nine Uttam Yudh Seva Medals, and 24 Yudh Seva Medals. These honours acknowledge acts of bravery, sacrifice, and distinguished service across various theatres.
290 Mention-in-Despatches Recognised
Alongside the Gallantry and Distinguished Service awards, 290 Mention-in-Despatches have been approved. These include 115 personnel from the Indian Army, five from the Indian Navy, 167 from the Indian Air Force, and three from the Border Roads Development Board (BRDB).

The awards reflect the nation’s gratitude towards the courage, commitment, and sacrifices of its armed forces personnel in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and security.
