Recently, an incident involving a man from Pakistan attempting to forcibly cover the head of a woman YouTuber has sparked widespread debate and discussion on social media. The incident, which was captured on camera and shared online, shows the man approaching the woman and attempting to place a headscarf on her without her consent.
Shaila Khan, a popular YouTuber of Pakistan known for her vlogs and commentary on social issues, firmly rebuffed the man’s actions and schooled him on the importance of respecting personal boundaries and freedom of choice.
She was on the streets where she was interviewing people about their opinions on the Iran-Israel conflict. A man with whom she was talking about it took off his shawl and put it on her head reminding her that this is an Islamic country, and she should follow Allah’s order.
Shaila immediately took over the action and she countered him by asking a relevant question: “O bhai, tum logon ka Islam dupatta se kyun shuru ho ke dupatta par kyon khatam ho jati hai?” (Brother, why does your Islam begin and end at a dupatta?)
Whoah! A young Pakistani man while being interviewed on TV puts his shawl on the head of the female interviewer, reminding her how she is in an Islamic country and therefore she should cover her head & follow Allah’s orders. Is this the future generation of Pakistan? pic.twitter.com/kKr180kZSW

In the video, she further says that the man committed a huge sin by touching her without her permission. “Is this what Islam teaches you,” she asked. Another woman interjects and gives the man a lesson on consent. She says, “Whether she wears a cover or not, is something for her to decide. Not you”.
The video was shared by Taha Siddiqui on X (known as twitter), and it got 144.5K views. As the video continues to circulate online, it serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for women’s rights and the importance of standing up against any form of disrespect. People were praising the woman for fighting back.
Some users wrote, “As long as this man’s attitude is widespread in Pakistan, it’s going to stay down and out”. Another user wrote, “Nobody has the authority to put a dupatta on any female. It is completely her choice to wear it or not.”
