In a decisive counter-terror operation, the Indian Army launched Operation Shivshakti on Wednesday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The operation resulted in the killing of two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, as confirmed by the Army’s official statement.
The encounter took place in the Maldivalan area of the Degwar sector. Acting on intelligence inputs about a possible infiltration attempt, ambush teams from the Indian Army observed movement late Tuesday night. As the suspected infiltrators opened fire, troops retaliated with accurate firepower, resulting in a fierce encounter that lasted several hours. Both terrorists were neutralised, and three weapons were recovered from the site.
The White Knight Corps, in a post on X, stated: “In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the Indian Army eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs.”
India’s Multi-Layered Response to Cross-Border Terror
Operation Shivshakti comes close on the heels of Operation Mahadev, during which three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack were killed. That incident, which occurred in Baisaran Valley, was the deadliest terror strike in Jammu and Kashmir since Pulwama 2019, claiming the lives of 25 Indian nationals and a Nepali citizen.

In response, the Indian Army intensified its crackdown on cross-border terrorism with a series of military operations. Following Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Operation Mahadev and now Operation Shivshakti signal India’s resolve to neutralise threats at the border and beyond.
As Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed Parliament earlier this week, India is adopting a no-tolerance approach to terrorism, aiming to dismantle both infrastructure and operatives behind such attacks.
