Mumbai: Days after a police complaint against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh after controversy over nude photoshoot, Mumbai Police on Friday called the actor for questioning on August 22. Mumbai Police had registered a case against Singh on a complaint filed by a city-based Non-Governmental Organisation.

Controversy was sparked earlier when the Bollywood actor posted his nude photos on social media platforms. A NGO lodged a complaint against him following which he has been called to the Chembur police station later this month to ‘attend the investigation.

The NGO, in its complaint, has alleged that the Bollywood Actor has hurt the sentiments of women in general and insulted their modesty by posting his nude photographs on social media platforms.

Last month, Ranveer Singh’s nude photos went viral on internet. The actor himself had uploaded his photos which sparked controversy. Though his fans came in his support but majority of interned users had criticised him for his act of uploading nude photos. The photoshoot was a tribute to ’70s pop icon Burt Reynolds who also went nude in the 1972 shoot for Cosmopolitan magazine.

Many social media users had demanded action against the actors while many thronged in his support. Some said that the photos are outraging modesty of women and hurting their sentiments. Many of his supporters said that that the actor has paid tribute to the pop icon hence nothing wrong in it.
