He further said, “I’m grateful that the Supreme Court took notice of it and gave an immediate stay but they still didn’t stop. These people are calling the public Bangladeshi and Rohingya? They are Indians.”

New Delhi: Hours after the demolition drive in Jahangirpuri stopped following a Supreme Court order, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said Muslims are undergoing a collective punishment.
Talking to ANI, Owaisi said, “Legally, a new bulldozer procession has been taken out. Muslims are undergoing collective punishment. Be scared of a poor’s curse. You demolished the shops in front of a mosque, why not in front of temples? This is a targeted demolition, I condemn it.”
He further said, “I’m grateful that the Supreme Court took notice of it and gave an immediate stay but they still didn’t stop. These people are calling the public Bangladeshi and Rohingya? They are Indians.”
On Wednesday, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North MCD) had started the eviction drive after Deli BJP president Adesh Gupta wrote a letter to the Mayor to identify and raze with bulldozers construction on land illegally occupied by Jahangirpuri “rioters” as soon as possible. The civic body, while issuing an order, announced to start the demolition of properties which have been constructed on illegally occupied land.
Moments later, the Supreme Court Wednesday stayed the eviction order and asked North MCD to maintain “status quo” on the action and decided to hear the matter Thursday. Raja Iqbal Singh, Mayor of North MCD, said that the civic agency will comply with the apex court’s order.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court refused to hear petitions challenging the demolition drive in Jahangirpuri. In the morning, speaking to the media, Delhi Police Special Commissioner of Police Dependra Pathak had said, “Law and order is totally under control. The situation is peaceful. We are maintaining peace and tranquility in the area. We have adequate deployment. We are in touch with the citizens of the area to maintain peace.”
