Panic has gripped villages in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district after reports of repeated attacks allegedly by a so-called ‘nude gang’. According to villagers, this is the fourth such incident in the Daurala area, leading to heightened fear among women. Police have begun investigations and are monitoring the area with drones, though no suspects have been caught so far.
The latest incident was reported from Bharaala village, where two unidentified men allegedly attempted to drag a woman into a field while she was travelling alone to her workplace. The woman screamed for help and managed to escape their clutches. Villagers rushed to the spot and surrounded the fields, but no suspects were found.
The victim told her family that the accused were not wearing any clothes. Shaken by the incident, she has since changed her job and now takes a different route to work, NDTV quoted her husband as saying.
Villagers Demand Action, Police Intensify Search
Villagers alleged that this was the fourth such case in recent weeks. They said previous incidents went unreported due to fear of public shame, but they believe the matter has now gone out of control.

“Villagers initially did not take it seriously. But now there is an atmosphere of fear. This gang has so far targeted only women,” said Rajendra Kumar, the village chief.
Police have since intensified their search operations. On Saturday, a drone search was carried out for several hours in the presence of senior officers. CCTV cameras have also been installed in nearby areas for surveillance.
“We combed the area with drones and the help of villagers, but did not find any suspects. Women cops have been deployed in the area, and a search is on for the suspects,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada, who inspected the site himself.
While the fear has confined many families indoors, some locals believe the incidents may be a rumour spread by miscreants attempting to tarnish the police and administration’s image.
