At least 10 people have been injured following a powerful explosion at the Central Security Institute Ordnance Factory in Khamaria, Jabalpur district, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday morning. The blast occurred in building 200 of the factory’s F-6 section, where bombs and explosives are manufactured.
According to officials, the explosion happened during the bomb-filling process due to a malfunction in the hydraulic system. The impact of the blast was so intense that it could be heard up to five kilometers away, causing panic among nearby residents who initially mistook it for an earthquake.
Three of the injured, all employees of the factory, are in critical condition and have been rushed to a private hospital for urgent treatment. Authorities have not yet released any official statements regarding the cause of the malfunction, but the factory’s general manager and other senior officials are at the site conducting assessments.
Residents Share Experiences
Residents living in the vicinity of the factory described the explosion as alarming, with many rushing out of their homes due to the tremors caused by the blast. One resident said, “It was so loud, we thought it was an earthquake. The ground shook, and everyone panicked.”
