Underlining the need to achieve and establish aesthetic uniformity in horticulture, plantations and grill designs across the Capital, the L-G directed officials to immediately start work so that results could start becoming visible within the next 15 days.

New Delhi: Continuing with his inspection visits on roads, L-G VK Saxena on Friday took stock of the stretch between Raj Niwas and Connaught Place along with Senior Officers in-charge of horticulture from concerned ULBs and Departments/ Agencies.
Stopping at Vikas Bhawan 2, Chandagi Ram Akhara, Monastery- ISBT, the over bridge connecting Geeta Colony on the road behind the Samadhi complex, the turning towards ITO near Arun Jaitley Firozshah Kotla stadium and Sikandra Road, he pointed out the lack of uniformity and haphazard growth of plants, dried up vegetation, litter and garbage, mounds of malba as a result of desiltation and construction/repair waste on central verges, foot paths and the vacant stretches besides them.
Saxena instructed officials to address these issues and rectify them by undertaking watering of drying vegetation by using recycled water, pruning and shaping haphazard growth of plants and trees that were obstructing pathways, roads and foot paths physically and also creating dark spots by obstructing street lights, removal of garbage, malba and construction/repair waste, repair of pavements, refurbishing/ replacing broken flower/plant pots that went back as long as the CWG 2010, selection of aesthetically appealing and resilient plants, and grilling of ungrilled spaces.
All these works should be undertaken only between 12 pm in the night to 5 am in the morning, so as to not inconvenience people, traffic and commuters, the L-G emphasized.
