The Modi government gave Kejriwal government Rs 2419 crore for this task but that amount has been spent by him on shining his own image, said Adesh Gupta.
New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta while charging Arvind Kejriwal government with making false promises and misleading Delhiites said whenever there are any elections Kejriwal and his ministers are suddenly reminded of Yamuna river cleaning. As Rajinder Nagar assembly by elections are on June 23 the CM and his colleagues have started making statements on this issue. Yamuna is not an election issue but an identity of our culture and politicking on this only shows his mindset.
He said in 2015 the CM had promised to clean the river in five years. He even showed Delhiites dream of doing so by offering prayers at Kudsia Ghat with his cabinet colleagues and senior officials. But even today this dream of clean Yamuna is filled with froth and pollutants. Since past so many years the Kejriwal government has neither installed any STP plant nor taken any measures for prevention of poisonous and dirty water coming out from factories.
Gupta said even the DPCC had described untreated water and poor quality of water emanating from CETPs as also sewage treatment plant as main reasons for this. He said Manish Sisodia had even made a budgetary provision of Rs 2074 crore in 2021-22 budget but that amount doesn’t seem to have been spent.
He said during 2018-21 itself Rs 200 were shown as spent on Dr Sen drain in Daryaganj but actual picture is altogether different. The Yamuna has taken form of a dirty drains at this place and one can’t even stand here. During corona times in 2020-21 Kejriwal government has shown Rs 152 crore amount to have been spent on Yamuna River cleaning which is a white lie as river’s condition has even worsened than before.
Gupta said after meeting Delhi L-G, Kejriwal is talking of asking Haryana to release more water in the river but he should rather be talking about cleaning it which is more important an issue now. The Modi government gave Kejriwal government Rs 2419 crore for this task but that amount has been spent by him on shining his own image, he charged.
