In a chilling twist to the murder of retired Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash, fresh police reports reveal that the former top cop’s son suspects his own mother and sister of orchestrating the brutal killing inside their Bengaluru home. The murder has sent shockwaves through Karnataka’s law enforcement and political circles, highlighting what appears to be a grim tale of family discord, mental health struggles, and an alleged property dispute that turned deadly.
Om Prakash, 68, a decorated Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1981 batch, was discovered lying in a pool of blood on Friday evening at his upscale residence. His body bore multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. Police sources have confirmed that his wife, Pallavi, is the prime suspect in what is shaping up to be one of Bengaluru’s most shocking family murders in recent memory.
Son’s Complaint Points Finger at Mother and Sister
In a formal police complaint, the deceased officer’s son, Karthikesh, made explosive allegations against his mother Pallavi and sister Kruthi. According to his statement, Om Prakash had been living with his sister for safety after facing repeated death threats from Pallavi.
However, two days before the murder, Kruthi reportedly visited him and persuaded him to return home against his will. On the evening of the murder, Karthikesh was away at the Karnataka Golf Association in Domlur when he received a distressing call from a neighbor, alerting him that his father had been found injured at home.
Upon arrival, he discovered his father lifeless, surrounded by a broken glass bottle, a knife, and multiple stab wounds.
“My mother Pallavi and my sister Kruthi have both been suffering from depression. They used to fight with my father frequently. I strongly suspect they are involved in my father’s murder,” Karthikesh stated in his complaint.
Pre-Meditated Murder Suspected, Property Dispute Under Probe
Investigators are probing whether the murder was premeditated, especially after learning from sources that Pallavi allegedly used chilli powder to blind Om Prakash, tied him up, and then attacked him with a broken glass bottle and a knife.
Shockingly, after allegedly committing the murder, Pallavi reportedly confessed the crime to the wife of another police officer, who then informed her husband. The husband, in turn, contacted authorities, leading to the discovery of Om Prakash’s body.

The preliminary investigation also suggests the fatal altercation might have stemmed from an ongoing property dispute between the couple, a theory that is being pursued alongside the possibility of mental health struggles contributing to the escalation.
So far, Pallavi and Kruthi have undergone more than 12 hours of intensive questioning, but no arrests have been made.
A Decorated Career Ends in Tragedy
Om Prakash, who hailed from Bihar and held a Master’s Degree in Geology, was a respected figure in Indian policing. His distinguished career saw him serve as Karnataka’s Director General of Police as well as the head of the state’s Fire and Emergency Services and Home Guards.
His sudden and brutal death has not only stunned Karnataka’s IPS community but also raised pressing questions about mental health, elder abuse, and the hidden domestic pressures often endured behind closed doors.
As the investigation continues, Bengaluru Police are leaving no stone unturned in piecing together the motive and the sequence of events that led to the shocking murder of one of Karnataka’s most senior retired officers.
