Udaipur: A couple of days after gruesome murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiyalal Teli, a local court on Thursday sent two accused to judicial custody till 13. Both the accused Riyaz Akhtari and Ghaus Mohammad, who were arrested hours after killing of Kanhaiyalal for supporting Nupur Sharma, were sent to custody by Udaipur district session court.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot met with the family members of Kanhaiya Lal. Gehlot assured justice to the family and harsher punishment to those involved in chilling murder of Kanhaiya.

Gehlot, in a tweet, said, “Arriving at the residence of Shri Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur, paid homage to the departed soul and met the bereaved family members and consoled them in this very sad time. The government is fully with them in this hour of grief.”

Ahead of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s visit to Udaipur to meet the family members of Kanhaiya Lal Teli, a massive protest march was taken out on the streets in the morning hours of Thursday. According to reports, stones were pelted during the procession.
Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded by two men — Gaus Mohammed and Riyaz Ahmed — allegedly for posting a WhatsApp status supporting ousted BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s comments on Prophet Mohammad.
On Thursday morning, the protestors were seen waving saffron flags and shouting slogans against the murder of Kanhaiyalal. The murder is presently being investigated by the National Investigation Agency and the probe so far has revealed that the duo who killed Kanhaiyalal have links with extremist organisations such as the Dawat-e-Islami and the ISIS.

On Wednesday, Gehlot had said a prima facie investigation into the Udaipur beheading incident revealed that the tailor was murdered to spread terror. The victim, identified as Kanhaiyalal Teli, was allegedly murdered over his WhatsApp status supporting ousted BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s comments on Prophet Mohammad.
Taking to Twitter, Gehlot said, “A high level review meeting was held on the Udaipur incident today (Wednesday). Police officials said that preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was prima facie done for the purpose of spreading terror. Information about the contacts of both the accused in other countries has also come to the fore.”
He added, “In this incident, a case has been registered under UAPA so now further investigation will be done by the NIA in which Rajasthan ATS will fully cooperate. The police and administration should ensure law and order in the entire state and take strict action against those trying to create nuisance. In view of the present situation, I once again appeal to all the parties to maintain peace.”
