Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari said that the state government aims to place RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences), Ranchi, among the top medical institutions of the country. He stressed that this goal can only be achieved if all responsible officials and staff perform their duties with sincerity.
“We are committed to bringing change at every level. I am fully serious about transforming the system at RIMS. I am in constant discussion with the Chief Minister, and I continue to receive his guidance. Very soon, RIMS will witness major and comprehensive reforms. It may take some time, but the winds of change have already begun, and in the coming days, more concrete steps will be taken to ensure better treatment and modern facilities for patients,” Dr. Ansari said while addressing an important meeting of the RIMS Governing Council on Saturday.
Strict Action Against Private Practice, MRI Purchase Fast-Tracked
The Health Minister announced strict action against doctors engaged in private practice during government duty hours. He instructed the RIMS Director to expedite the purchase process of the MRI machine. Directives were also issued to repair or replace non-functional ventilators at the Trauma Centre, prioritize building repairs, and improve cleanliness in the hospital premises.
Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh said that immediate orders have been given to the Director on several issues and that solid improvements will be visible in RIMS in the coming time.

The RIMS Director described the meeting as positive and result-oriented, assuring that extensive reforms would be seen in the institute soon. It was also decided that the next meeting would be held on October 9, 2025, to discuss pending proposals in detail.

Several agendas were discussed in depth during the meeting, including:
- Delays in procurement and resulting problems
- Facilities and shortcomings at the Trauma Centre
- Maintenance systems and the status of faulty ventilators
- Purchase and use of essential medical equipment
- Current treatment conditions and plans for improvement
The meeting was attended by MLA Suresh Kumar Baitha, Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh, Finance Secretary, RIMS Director, Vice-Chancellor of Ranchi University, Director of RINPAS, Divisional Commissioner, along with several senior officials and dignitaries.
