The Sunrisers Hyderabad scripted history after it scored 277 runs against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 match on Wednesday. This is the highest-ever total ever etched by any team in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The historic feat was fuelled by impressive performances from Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen, who each contributed quickfire fifties.
The match, held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday, saw Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya winning the toss and choosing to bowl first against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The decision set the stage for an intense showdown between the two teams.
The game not only featured a battle between the players on the field but also carried significant weight for both captains. Pat Cummins, leading Sunrisers Hyderabad, aimed to justify his hefty price tag of Rs 20.50 crore.
Meanwhile, for Mumbai Indians’ skipper Pandya, the match presented an opportunity to win over fans who have shown dissatisfaction since he assumed the captaincy role, succeeding Rohit Sharma this season.
