Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) showcased their bowling prowess in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as they secured a commanding 28-run victory against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. The highlight of the match was the exceptional performance of LSG’s emerging fast bowler, Mayank Yadav, who wreaked havoc with three wickets for 14 runs.
RCB’s chase of 182 runs got off to a promising start with Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli setting the tone. However, Mayank’s introduction into the attack turned the tide in LSG’s favor. His early strikes dismantled RCB’s top order, including the dismissals of Kohli and Glenn Maxwell.
Despite a brief resistance from Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lomror, RCB succumbed to the pressure created by Mayank’s lethal bowling spell. LSG’s disciplined bowling unit, led by Mayank, ensured victory for the team.
Earlier in the day, LSG’s innings was anchored by Quinton de Kock, who played a crucial knock of 81 runs off 56 balls. His partnership with Nicholas Pooran, who unleashed a late blitz with an unbeaten 40 off 21 balls, propelled LSG to a formidable total of over 180 runs.
RCB’s bowling effort was led by Glenn Maxwell, who claimed two wickets, supported by Yash Dayal’s contribution of one wicket.
With this victory, LSG stamped their authority in the tournament, showcasing their depth in both batting and bowling departments. Meanwhile, RCB will look to regroup and bounce back stronger in their upcoming fixtures.
