Indian Railways Special Campaign 4.0: The Ministry of Railways has successfully concluded a Special Campaign 4.0, a month-long initiative aimed at fostering a culture of cleanliness, enhancing organizational efficiency, and engaging both employees and the public. Launched on October 2, 2024, the campaign received enthusiastic participation from Railway personnel at all levels, under the leadership of the Chairman & CEO of the Railway Board and active supervision by the Secretary of the Railway Board.
Key Highlights of Special Campaign 4.0
Extensive Cleanliness Drives
- Conducted 56,168 cleanliness drives across Indian Railways focusing on hygiene at workplaces and Railway stations.
- Special attention to scrap disposal created 12.15 lakh sq. ft. of cleared space, generating a revenue of Rs 452.40 crores.
Pending Matter Resolutions
Significant progress was made in reducing backlogs across various departments:
- 1065 Member of Parliament (MP) references resolved.
- 138 State Government references and 65 of 69 Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) references addressed.
- Resolved 2.5 lakh public grievances and addressed 1427 public grievances appeals.

File Review and Management
Reviewed 1.6 lakh files, resulting in the disposal of over 89,000 outdated files, improving record-keeping and administrative efficiency

Organized Rail Chaupals in key cities, including New Delhi, Jaipur, Chennai, Nagpur, and Kolkata, focusing on cleanliness awareness, reducing single-use plastics, and addressing public grievances.
Social Media Impact
The campaign generated substantial engagement on social media with 3713 tweets, amplifying public interest and participation in the Swachhatta movement.
