In a decisive diplomatic push following Operation Sindoor, the Indian government on Saturday announced that seven all-party delegations will travel to strategic global capitals later this month. Their goal is to rally international support against cross-border terrorism originating from Pakistan and to present a united Indian stance on national security.
These delegations will be led by prominent Members of Parliament from across the political spectrum, including both ruling party and opposition leaders — a move seen as a demonstration of national unity on the issue of terrorism.
The delegations will be headed by Congress’s Shashi Tharoor, BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda, JD(U)’s Sanjay Kumar Jha, DMK’s Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, NCP’s Supriya Sule, and Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Eknath Shinde.
“In the context of Operation Sindoor and India’s continued fight against cross-border terrorism, the delegations are set to visit key partner countries, including members of the UN Security Council later this month. The All-Party delegations will project India’s national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations. They would carry forth to the world the country’s strong message of zero-tolerance against terrorism,” the government said.
Each delegation will include MPs from various parties, prominent political figures, and experienced diplomats. The goal is to ensure that India’s diplomatic message is carried effectively and reflects broad national support.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized this unity in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:“In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero-tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences.”

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor acknowledged the responsibility, saying:“I am honoured by the invitation of the government of India to lead an all-party delegation to five key capitals, to present our nation’s point of view on recent events. When national interest is involved, and my services are required, I will not be found wanting.”
This all-party outreach mirrors similar diplomatic initiatives taken in 1994 and 2008, after major terrorist attacks. In 1994, under Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, a delegation led by Opposition leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee successfully countered a Pakistan-backed censure motion at the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva.
However, this move comes amid domestic political tensions. The Congress has been critical of the government’s handling of diplomacy and its domestic narrative around Operation Sindoor. The party has accused the BJP of politicizing the operation through Tiranga rallies, and in response, has launched Jai Hind rallies in twelve cities.
The Congress also raised questions about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to convene a briefing for NDA chief ministers only, asking why all chief ministers were not included in the discussion on Operation Sindoor.
Despite the political friction, the formation of these delegations sends a strong message of national consensus on the issue of terrorism and India’s intent to highlight it on the global stage.
