Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit- Baltistan and Muzaffarabad during 16th-18th; Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 16th and 17th, north Punjab on 16th June, the IMD said.

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Assam, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and forecast heavy rainfall over Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telangana.
Elaborating its prediction, the IMD said under the influence of strong southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to northeast and adjoining east India in lower tropospheric levels, “Widespread thundershowers very likely over northeast India and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next five days. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next five days and heavy rainfall over Nagaland and Manipur during 15th to 18th June. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall also likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 15th an 16th June and over Assam and Meghalaya during next five days.”
“Rainfall activity likely to increase gradually over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal with fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds during next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Jharkhand on 16th & 17th and over Bihar during 16th-18th June,” the weathermen added.

It further said, “Isolated rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over West Madhya Pradesh and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall likely over East Madhya Pradesh on 15th and 16th and over Chhattisgarh during 15th-17th June.”
The IMD has also predicted “fairly widespread/ widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall likely over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during next five days”.
“Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 15th and 18th; Telangana on 14th & 15th; Rayalaseema on 14th & 18th; Coastal & South Interior Karnataka on 17th & 18th; Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on 15th, 17th & 18th and Kerala & Mahe during 15th-18th June,” a statement issued by the IMD said.
IMD further said, “Isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Western Himalayan region (Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit- Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand) and adjoining plains (Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Rajasthan) on 14th & 15th becoming fairly widespread to widespread rainfall over Western Himalayan region and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi & East Uttar Pradesh during 16th-18th June.”
