The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended Dipesh Gohil, a contractual worker at the Okha port, for allegedly sharing sensitive information about Indian Coast Guard (ICG) vessels with a Pakistani spy. Gohil reportedly received Rs 200 per day for his activities, accumulating Rs 42,000, transferred via a friend’s account.
Gohil was approached by a Pakistani agent, using the alias “Sahima,” through Facebook. The two later communicated over WhatsApp, where the agent requested specific information about the Coast Guard’s ships stationed at Okha port.
Gohil provided details about the name and number of ICG boats, which could potentially aid Pakistan’s Navy or ISI in monitoring India’s maritime activities.
Without a personal bank account, Gohil directed payments to a friend’s account under the guise of receiving money for welding work.
ATS Investigation and Arrest
ATS officials, working alongside the Coast Guard, traced Gohil’s communications to a Pakistani number. Recognizing the potential threat to India’s national security, particularly during conflict, the ATS arrested him after confirming his activities.

Gohil’s case is not isolated. Gujarat ATS recently arrested another individual, Pankaj Kotia from Porbandar, for similar activities. These incidents highlight an organized effort by Pakistan’s Navy or ISI to recruit individuals with access to strategic maritime information.
According to ATS officer K Siddharth, details about Coast Guard operations are critical, especially in contexts such as drug interceptions along maritime borders or during military conflicts.
Maritime Security and Vigilance
The case underscores the need for heightened security measures at strategic ports and better vetting processes for workers. Collaboration between intelligence agencies and maritime forces remains vital to counter such threats effectively.
The arrest of Gohil adds to the ongoing efforts to curb espionage activities along India’s coastal regions, a critical frontline in national security.
