Azad, in his resignation letter written to the president Sonia Gandhi, has raised serious questions over the functioning of the party mainly Rahul Gandhi and his team.
New Delhi: Though the Congress party is shocked over the resignation of Ghulam Nabi Azad from all party posts including the primary membership, a section of the party has launched a scathing attack on the veteran leader.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, in his resignation letter written to the president Sonia Gandhi, has raised serious questions over the functioning of the party mainly Rahul Gandhi and his team. Azad’s letter bomb targeting party’s key leader has drew sharp reactions. The leaders, loyal to Gandhi family have shown their unhappiness for targeting the former Congress president.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh called the letter ‘inaccurate’. Questioning Azad’s, Ramesh said that GNA’s DNA has been modi-fied. “A man who has been treated with the greatest respect by the Congress leadership has betrayed it by his vicious personal attacks which reveal his true character. GNA’s DNA has been modi-fied,” the Congress general secretary said.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, “I am sorry to read the judgment and statement of Ghulam Nabi Azad ji. Congress gave him respect and recognition. For 42 years he has not remained without office – his words are inappropriate, beyond my comprehension.”
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate, in a tweet, said, “Ghulam Nabi Azad ji has mentioned only two coalition state governments – probably Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu. He forgot to mention Bihar or this letter was written before 9th August and is now being made public before Bharat Jodo Yatra?”
Another Congress leader Jothimani said, “Dear Ghulam Nabi Azad ji, interestingly you haven’t mentioned about the states you were in charge of for decades and the fate of those states. This is much before my leader Rahul Gandhi took over as vice-president. Please exit with grace and dignity. We still respect you as our senior leader.”
