A massive fire broke out at Kolkata’s Acropolis Mall on Friday, sparking fears that several people might be trapped inside. The fire department swiftly responded to the emergency, deploying at least ten fire tenders to the scene.
Upon receiving the alert, fire department officials quickly brought the fire under control. “The fire has been brought under control, but nothing can be said right now,” stated DCP Jadavpur Division Bidisha Kalita.
In response to the incident, fire department personnel evacuated people from the offices located within the mall. Videos circulating on social media show frantic scenes of people rushing out of the building as thick smoke billowed from the premises.
The exact cause of the fire at Acropolis Mall remains unknown, according to fire department officials. This incident marks the second major fire in Kolkata within a week. On Tuesday, a massive blaze erupted at a restaurant in the city’s Park Street area.
