Mumbai: In a tragic turn of events, the entertainment industry mourns the loss of two talented actors within a span of 24 hours. Dolly Sohi, renowned for her roles in popular TV shows like ‘Jhanak’, ‘Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi’, and ‘Khoob Ladi Mardaani…Jhansi Ki Rani’, breathed her last earlier on Friday morning, after battling cervical cancer. She was 48 years old.
Adding to the family’s grief, Dolly’s sister, Amandeep Sohi, also an actor, succumbed to jaundice on Thursday, March 7. Dolly had been grappling with her health for the past month, leading to her unfortunate demise.
Mannu Sohi, the brother of Dolly and Amandeep, said the family is devastated after losing both the sisters within a short span of time. “Dolly passed away around 4 am this morning. Both, Dolly and Amandeep were admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Mumbai. Amandeep died on Thursday and now Dolly. We are completely devastated,” Mannu said.
In an official statement released by the family, they expressed their shock and sorrow at Dolly’s passing, announcing that her final rites would be conducted in the afternoon.
“Our beloved Dolly has left for her heavenly abode today early morning. We are in a state of shock with the loss. The final rites shall be conducted today afternoon. Will share further details,” the statement read.
Dolly Sohi had openly shared her battle with cancer, posting a poignant photo last year after a chemotherapy session. Her message of resilience and hope resonated with many.
Survived by her teenage daughter, Dolly Sohi leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances and an indomitable spirit that inspired many. The entertainment fraternity mourns the loss of these two talented souls and extends heartfelt condolences to their bereaved family.
