Delhi University Professor Assault Viral Video: A violent altercation inside Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College has triggered widespread controversy after a professor alleged that he was slapped and assaulted by student leaders during a campus meeting.
Sujeet Kumar, a commerce professor and convenor of the college disciplinary committee, claimed he was attacked by DUSU joint secretary and ABVP leader Deepika Jha along with other Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad members inside the principal’s office.

“They pressured me to resign, and after that, a student named Deepika came and slapped me, as captured in the video clip,” Kumar said.
CCTV Footage Captures the Incident
A 32-second CCTV clip, accessed by Hindustan Times, shows Sujeet Kumar seated next to Deepika Jha as a heated discussion unfolds.
Moments later, Jha appears to stand up and slap Kumar. A female police officer immediately intervenes, pulling Jha away. Kumar is then pushed back into his seat by another person. Several Delhi Police personnel are visible in the footage.

The professor said he was targeted after intervening in a clash between student groups during a fresher’s event. He added that police had to escort him out after being surrounded by students.
ABVP Leader Admits to Slap, Gives Justification
Later, Deepika Jha admitted to slapping the professor but defended her actions, alleging verbal abuse and inappropriate behaviour, the HT reported.
“He verbally abused me and kept staring and smirking even after I told him I was uncomfortable. I shouldn’t have slapped him, but I lost control,” she said.
She also claimed that the meeting was to address a complaint regarding NSUI members’ participation in the college’s oath-taking ceremony.
The tension stems from a student council election at the college. According to Kumar, NSUI won the president’s post, while ABVP took other positions unopposed.
He alleged that ABVP members had previously assaulted the NSUI student who contested the election and were suspended. On Wednesday, during the oath-taking ceremony, the same students allegedly attacked the NSUI leader again in front of faculty members.
Police and DUTA Demand Investigation
A senior police officer confirmed receiving the complaint and said CCTV footage is being examined.
Meanwhile, the Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has written to the vice chancellor demanding strict action against those involved.
“The incident is deeply concerning. Violence inside a principal’s office cannot be tolerated in any educational institution,” said a DU professor on condition of anonymity.
