The police said a hunt to identify and arrest the kingpin of the network is on and said they are also trying to establish the role of a person lodged at a prison in Meerut.
New Delhi: Around 2,000 live cartridges were seized in Delhi and six persons were arrested by Delhi Police on Friday. The arrested included the owner of a gun house. The arrests and the seizure come barely few days ahead of the Independence Day.
The police said, “The accuses may be a part of a criminal network but we are not yet ruling out a terror angle. While the cartridges were sourced from a licences gun house in Dehradun, they were to be transported to Lucknow and Jaunpur.”
Explaining the modus operandi, the police said the owner of the gun house would write fake vouchers regarding the sale of firearms to other gun houses but sold them to gangsters and other anti-social elements at a premium. One of the main handlers in the network, Saddam, was held from Jaunpur and the gun house owner, identified as Parikshit Negi, was also arrested. “Those who carried the of ammunition were identified as Rashid and Ajmal,” the police said.

The kite-flyers will ensure a clear sky.
