Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had recently directed all the officials to visit the gauthans and inspect the activities conducted there to ensure smooth functioning of the gauthans.
Raipur: Under the Chhattisgarh government’s flagship ‘Gauthan Reach’ programme, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain Wednesday visited the gauthan located in the Puraina Khapri gram panchayat of the Balodabazar district and took stock of the various activities conducted in the gauthan. Gauthans are rural industrial centres set up in the state.
Jain sat on the ground with the members of the women self-help groups in the chaupal held at the gauthan and asked them about the activities conducted by them.
Jain appreciated the work done by the women self-help groups. He also inquired about the arrangements for cow dung procurement in the gauthan and checked the quality of the vermicompost prepared by the self-help groups.
Jain said the state government has launched a drive from April 7 to make the system of gauthans more efficient and profitable for the people. Under this outreach drive, officers will visit the gauthans and take stock of the activities there and give necessary guidance to strengthen the system.
The Chief Secretary also praised the women working in the Puraina-Khapri Gauthan for not only earning good income but also for utilising this income to increase their productivity.
