Several prominent Bollywood figures, including former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, actors Akshay Kumar and Rajkummar Rao, were among the early voters in the ongoing Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024. The celebrities made it a point to cast their votes early in the day, encouraging citizens to exercise their democratic right.
Sachin Tendulkar, accompanied by his wife Anjali and daughter Sara, cast his vote at a polling booth in Mumbai. The trio proudly displayed their inked fingers to the media. Speaking after voting, Tendulkar, who has long been an icon for the Election Commission of India, urged citizens to follow suit. “It is our responsibility to vote. I hope people will make the effort and come to the polling booths,” he said, encouraging a high voter turnout.
Actor Akshay Kumar also participated in the election process, showing his inked finger after casting his vote. He praised the arrangements made at the polling booth, particularly for senior citizens, and highlighted the cleanliness maintained at the venue. “I urge everyone to come out and vote,” he added, stressing the importance of voter participation in the democratic process.

Rajkummar Rao, who voted at the Gyan Kendra Secondary School in Mumbai, joined the call to action, emphasizing the significance of voting in a democracy. “It is our right, and it is important that we step outside and vote. I have performed my duty, and now it’s your turn. Please vote,” he said while speaking to news agency Press Trust of India.
Other celebrities, including actress and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, also took to social media to urge their followers to vote. Bhatt wrote, “Go vote Mumbai. Go vote Bandra. Your vote matters.”
In addition to the above-mentioned personalities, filmmakers Kabir Khan, Zoya Akhtar, and actors Ali Fazal and Farhan Akhtar were also seen casting their votes early in the day.
Voting for the Maharashtra Assembly Elections began at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm. Polling is being conducted across all 288 assembly constituencies in the state, with a total of 4,136 candidates contesting the elections, including 2,086 independents.
