Renowned Bollywood actor and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt has made it clear that she isn’t seeking any matchmakers to find her a life partner.
Recently featured in the Amazon Prime Video series “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” Pooja Bhatt candidly discussed how she often faces inquiries about her marital status and why she remains single.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Pooja Bhatt revealed, “I’m often asked, ‘Why are you not married, why are you single. You’re doing so well for yourself. You’re an attractive woman. Come on, we have to make you meet somebody.’”
She further elaborated on her response to such questions, asserting, “I am like, ‘Boss, I don’t need to be rescued.’”
Expressing her viewpoint on the pressure to marry, Pooja Bhatt emphasized, “Some people come up to me and say ‘shaadi kar le’ (get married), but kyun kar lun shaadi (why should I get married)? They want to introduce me to someone. But I’m not looking for an introduction. I’m not looking for a matchmaker. If the universe wants me to meet somebody, it will happen.”
She added, “It will be a companion, not a solution. A man cannot be a solution to a woman. We have to be able to walk our own path.”
While Pooja Bhatt acknowledged that finding a companion would be a welcome addition to her life, she stressed that she doesn’t necessarily require a life partner to feel complete.
She stated, “If I find a companion, that would be the greatest gift. If I don’t, that’s okay because I am grateful for my life.”
Reflecting on her journey, Pooja Bhatt highlighted the richness of her life, encompassing her family, friendships, and professional achievements.
Despite her openness about her past relationships, including her marriage to Manish Makhija and subsequent divorce, Pooja maintains a resilient attitude towards her personal life.
Throughout her illustrious 33-year career in the entertainment industry, Pooja Bhatt has been a trailblazer, known for her candidness and authenticity. Her firm stance on marriage and relationships serves as a reminder of the importance of self-empowerment and autonomy in navigating life’s journey.
