New Delhi: In a surprising move, the Bharatiya Janata Party today denied tickets to its 4 sitting MPs from Delhi. The party announced list of 5 out of 7 Delhi Lok Sabha seats candidates from the city in which it has repeated former Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari this time again. Tiwari, a singer cum actor is MP from North East seat since 2014. Notably, the BJP has won all seven parliamentary seats of Delhi in 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections defeating AAP and Congress candidates from huge margins.

The BJP list has surprised everyone by fielding Bansuri Swaraj from prestigious New Delhi Lok Sabha seat. The party this time has denied ticket to Union Minister and sitting MP Meenakshi Lekhi. Similarly the party has given ticket to Praveen Khandelwal from Chandni Chowk by denying ticket to former Union Health Minister Harshvardhan. The party has fielded Kamaljeet Sehrawat from West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency by denying ticket to MP Pravseh Verma. Verma, a BJP heavyweight, is a Jat leader and son of former Delhi CM late Sahib Singh Verma. From South Delhi seat, it has given opportunity to Ramvir Singh Bidhuri after denying ticket to incumbent Ramesh Bidhuri. Bidhuri is currently Leader of Oppostion in Delhi Assembly and very active on ground.

The saffron party, however, has yet to announce candidates from East Delhi and North West Lok Sabha seats. From East Delhi Lok Sabha, Gautam Gambhir today requested the national president to relieve himself from political duties. Gambhir said that he wanted to focus on cricket which is his core field. From North West Delhi seat, BJP’s MP Hansraj Hans may not be repeated this time as he is not much active on ground.
