New Delhi: The BJP had surprised everyone in 2019 by giving ticket to famous cricketer Gautam Gambhir from East Delhi Lok Sabha seat and the move was praised by the political sections. Gambhir got elected from the seat by defeating AAP heavyweight Atishi by a huge margin and it was said that Gambhir is a clean politician hence his entry will show a change in Delhi politics. It was also said that by roping in a 37-year-old young cricketer, the saffron party wanted to see him in Delhi politics with a future perspective.

Meanwhile, Gambhir surprised today after saying that he does not want to see himself in active politics in future. The sitting MP declared hi is not interested to show his candidature again. Jayant Sinha, another young MP from Hazaribagh, today also announced to quit active politics by making a request to party’s National President JP Nadda through social media. The party sources, however, said that the both- Gambir and Sinha, were not going to be repeated on Lok Sabha this this time as their individual performances were not as per the party’s expectations.
Taking social media platform X, Gambhir announced, “I have requested Hon’ble Party President @JPNadda ji to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments.”

Sinha, too, said, “I have requested Hon’ble Party President Shri @JPNadda ji to relieve me of my direct electoral duties so that I can focus my efforts on combating global climate change in Bharat and around the world,” he posted on X. Meanwhile, both the young leaders said thanks to the party for showing faith in them.

Gambhir won East Delhi seat in 2019 while Jayant Sinha, son of former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha got elected twice from Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand. Both the leaders are also known for their clean image and clean politics. Sinha was even made minister in first term of Narendra Modi government in 2014 and held key portfolio.
