Bijapur Naxal encounter updates | Four Naxalites were killed during an encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Saturday evening, police confirmed. The exchange of fire took place in a forested region located in the south-western part of the district during an anti-Naxal operation.
According to Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P, the gunfight broke out after a joint team of security forces launched an operation based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of Naxal cadres in the area.
“So far, the bodies of four Maoists have been found at the encounter site and intermittent exchange of fire is still underway,” the IG said.
Weapons Recovered; Casualties Add to Year’s Tally in Bastar Division
A substantial cache of arms, including INSAS and SLR rifles, has been recovered from the site of the encounter, police said. The operation remains in progress.

With these fresh casualties, the number of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year has risen to 225. Out of these, 208 deaths have occurred in the Bastar division, which includes Bijapur, Bastar, Kanker, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Sukma, and Dantewada districts.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reiterated on multiple occasions that the government is determined to eliminate Naxalism by March 31, 2026.
