On Monday night, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal received insulin at Tihar jail due to a spike in his blood sugar level, which reached 320, far above the ideal range of 70 to 100. Kejriwal, who has diabetes, criticised the Tihar jail administration for allegedly neglecting his repeated requests for insulin.
The recent health concerns cited by Arvind Kejriwal have sparked controversy, with accusations flying between the AAP and the Tihar jail administration.
Kejriwal, a diabetic, saw his blood sugar levels soar to 320, prompting him to criticize the jail administration for allegedly neglecting his repeated requests for insulin.
The Tihar jail administration, however, countered Kejriwal’s claims, stating that during a video consultation with specialists from AIIMS, the issue of insulin was not raised.
The AAP, not one to back down, accused the BJP-led central government of deliberately withholding treatment for Arvind Kejriwal, leading to a public outcry. Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj lambasted the BJP, questioning why insulin was administered now if it wasn’t deemed necessary before.
In response, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused the AAP of attempting to garner sympathy for Kejriwal during the Lok Sabha elections, asserting that the sugar levels of Arvind Kejriwal were under control in jail.
The Enforcement Directorate also waded into the fray, accusing Arvind Kejriwal of consuming sugary foods regularly to exploit his health for legal advantage.
Kejriwal vehemently denied these allegations, stating that he had consistently shown high sugar levels to every doctor who attended to him and had repeatedly demanded insulin.
The ongoing spat highlights the tense relationship between the AAP and the BJP, with Kejriwal’s health becoming a focal point amid legal battles and political jousting. As Kejriwal’s health remains a subject of scrutiny, his arrest and subsequent detention in Tihar jail have become yet another battleground in the political arena, drawing attention from both supporters and critics alike.
