The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday claimed that Arvind Kejriwal’s convoy was attacked during a door-to-door campaign in the New Delhi Assembly constituency ahead of the upcoming elections. According to AAP, a stone was thrown at Kejriwal’s car, allegedly in an attempt to disrupt the campaign. The party accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the attack.
AAP released a video that purportedly shows a stone landing on Kejriwal’s vehicle, further alleging that individuals waving black flags were part of a coordinated effort to hinder their campaign.
In a statement on X, AAP said, “BJP candidate Pravesh Verma’s goons attacked Arvind Kejriwal with stones while he was campaigning and tried to hurt him so that he could not campaign. BJP people, Kejriwal ji is not going to be scared of your cowardly attack. The people of Delhi will give you a befitting reply.”

Reacting to the incident, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia accused the BJP of resorting to “cowardly” tactics. “The Bharatiya Janata Party is a party of panicked cowards! If you don’t have the courage to counter Arvind Kejriwal’s work, you resort to sending your goons to attack him. There can be no cheaper or lower-level politics than what the BJP is doing. The BJP should understand that the public will now give you a befitting reply for this act of cowardice,” he said.
BJP Refutes Allegations, Claims Kejriwal’s Convoy Ran Over Protesters
In response, BJP MP Parvesh Verma alleged that Kejriwal’s convoy had run over two individuals during the campaign. Verma shared a video on X, stating, “When the people were asking questions, Arvind Kejriwal hit two youngsters with his car. Both were taken to Lady Hardinge Hospital. Seeing defeat in front, he forgot the value of people’s lives. I am going to the hospital.”

The Delhi Police, however, refuted AAP’s claims of an attack, stating, “No attack took place. Arvind Kejriwal was holding a public meeting at Lal Bahadur Sadan when some BJP workers arrived, wanting to ask questions. This led to slogan-shouting from both sides. The police intervened and dispersed people from both groups to control the situation.”
A High-Stakes Battle in New Delhi Constituency
The New Delhi Assembly constituency is among the most hotly contested battlegrounds in the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 5. Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is contesting from this seat, facing tough competition from BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit, the son of the late Sheila Dikshit.
This incident has heightened tensions in what is already a fiercely competitive race. As allegations and counter-allegations fly, the focus remains on the upcoming polls and the strategies of each party to sway voters in this crucial constituency.
