Shortly after the new display picture was updated, Reddit users began sharing screenshots, with many speculating that the gesture was a strategic move to mitigate the controversy. “Lol he’s being boycotted online so clearly did it as damage control,” one user remarked. Another added, “Bekar me damage control kar rahe hai, aisa karne se thore naa boycott karne waale inko chor denge.”
Critics further pointed to the timing of a recent post by Aamir Khan Productions. On May 12, the production house tweeted: “Salute to the heroes of Operation Sindoor. Heartfelt gratitude to our armed forces for their courage, bravery, and unwavering commitment to the security of our nation. Thank you to the Honourable Prime
Minister for his leadership and determination. Jai Hind.”

Many questioned why the actor remained silent in the immediate aftermath of the operation, accusing him of only speaking up once his film’s promotions began. At a recent media event, when asked about the tension between India and Pakistan, Aamir Khan said, “We need justice and assurance that it [terrorist attacks] won’t happen again. We believe in our government, they’ll take action against the anti-social elements who committed this and bring them to justice.”
While criticism has dominated much of the online conversation, some users came to the actor’s defense, highlighting that Aamir Khan Productions had posted in support of the Indian Armed Forces on the same day the operation occurred. “Why are people conveniently ignoring that this same account had posted in support of India and the armed forces’ mission?” one fan asked. Another commented, “He hasn’t been silent—his production house posted stories the same day.”
The trailer for Sitaare Zameen Par was released recently, and with the film’s release around the corner, the conversation around Aamir Khan’s perceived political positioning and social actions is only intensifying.
